I have been part of the financial services industry since 2005 initially working in banking and then insurance before joining the financial planning profession in 2007. I fell in love with financial planning as it is the one area of finance where I can use my knowledge and insight to help make a positive impact in people’s lives.

The financial planning phase of my career began over a decade ago in Canberra where I worked on strategy develompent and financial modelling at first which allowed me to gain a considerable depth of knowledge across all areas of advice (including a deep understanding of Public Service and Military defined benefit superannuation schemes before entering the client facing side.

I work closely with every client to truly understand their financial and lifestyle goals so with tailored advice based on well-considered strategy and modelling. My qualifications include:

Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and a Diploma of Financial Planning. I am also currently working through a Masters of Applied Finance.

Having a super already set up i was not satisfied it was the right one for me. I wanted to see an Independent Financial Adviser because they are not recommending products that are influenced by kickbacks. John was the right person for me, he knows what he is talking about, and has a vast knowledge of the industry including rules and regulations relating to taxation . John and his team were straight to the point . and a pleasure to work with. John . went out of his way to explain different products that were offered to me with no pressure whatsoever in choosing the one i wanted.

We initially saw John in 2018 for what we thought would be a one-off meeting.

I am in the military and my wife in the public service, so we we both have defined benefit pensions. We had seen financial advisers before but they did not really have expertise in this area. John was brilliant, he explained how our super schemes (MSBS and PSS) worked and showed us in detail some key factors that go into the underlying calculation. We paid $275 for an hour of his time on this and to this day, still say it is the best money we have ever spent.

Since then, we went back to John for a financial plan as I was exiting the military and needed help understanding the private super system as well as on how to work through all the issues to do with my MSBS. He worked with us then to help me make the right decisions, re-enforced what we were doing with the PSS, coached us against what we now realise would have been bad decisions if he hadn't helped us with our "unknown unknowns". He is highly astute, listened well to what we wanted to achieve and got us set-up for that really positively. I think we would be far worse off financially if we hadn't been using his services and worst of all, I don't think we would even realise on how much we would have missed out on.

John appeared at just the right moment. I was about to sell a long-held investment property and I needed advice on dividing up the proceeds to provide me with ongoing retirement income; managing the CGT liability as cost effectively as possible; and estate planning as my next of kin live permanently overseas. John's knowledge and expertise is exceptional and he has worked through all the various complexities that have cropped up with such kindness and efficiency. He is also a great listener. It is a pleasure to work with him and I can't recommend him highly enough.

He called back ever time I left a message and quickly resolved any issues which arose. In early 2020 John has advised he will keep in touch to Assist with transition to retirement.
